Featured Sign of the Zodiac - Cancer
The Sun is in Cancer from June 21 to July 22, though may vary slightly each year.
You will relate to this if you have the Sun, Moon or Ascendant in Cancer. Cancer is represented by the Crab. It is a feminine mutable water sign ruled by the Moon.
You’re having a bad day at work and have had just about enough of computers, technology, business meetings and noise. You want the world to slow down or even stop so you can get off, just for an hour or two, so you can recharge your batteries.
Then suddenly a new person appears in your office. His name is David and he’s a Cancer and the world shifts just a little. In the wink of an eye, your clinical, corporate world has become more human, more soulful, more imaginative and you’re amazed to hear that he’s actually reciting poetry! Poetry! In the middle of the office! What is going on? Who is this person? Well, it turns out he’s the owner of the company whose name you’ve heard whispered but whom you’d never met. He’s seems nothing like a millionaire businessman. He is the perfect Southern gentleman with the slow drawl, the good manners, the charm and twinkle in his eye. He seems slightly reserved in an English kind of way but charming enough that you want to know more. Power seems to quietly exude from him; not a flashy way but in a way that demands attention. Even though he slipped into the office unannounced and seems so laid back and unassuming, he stirs up a flurry of activity just by being there and seems to enjoy it.
His corporate office is the Presidential suite but still a home from home. Cancer has a strong connection to the home and likes to create one wherever he goes. If he’s forced to work hours away from home everyday then he will make his office into his home and have the best of both worlds. David’s office was crammed with framed photographs of every family member alive and some who had passed on. There’s definitely a connection with the past which is uppermost with the Cancer and a fascination with not only his own heritage but with history and antiques generally. Also in his office is a comfy sofa, a television set and even a kitchen complete with kettle, delicate china cups, Earl Grey tea and cake that his Granny made! All his employees are welcome to stop by his office any time and although David has his cranky moments like all good Cancers, he likes to think of his staff like his extended family. He is interested in them all, their families and lives in general and insisted on a notice board by the water cooler so that all employees could share photographs of their assorted babies, homes and other precious cargo.
When you meet Cancer you feel he’s fully engaged and that his interaction with you is the most important thing going on. It’s that interchange of emotions, energy, and feeling that Cancer enjoys. Certainly, when I met the high-powered boss, David, for the first time it was a memorable experience. While other Sun signs may be distracted, Cancer likes to stay in the here and now, centered in his feelings of what is going on between him and the other person, people, animal or plant.
By now you might have the impression that Cancers are perfect human beings. Well, as warm, caring people they are among the best but there is definitely a downside to all this subjective, sensitive humanness. Because Cancer is so concerned and intimately wrapped up with everything and everybody he can suffer from excessive anxiety, with a desire to control his life and the lives of those close to him. When things don’t go his way and his close friends and family members don’t go along with him he can be pretty upset. While a tougher, more abrasive soul, such as Aries, takes disagreement and even insults in her stride, it may deeply wound the more sensitive Cancer. Not that he’s weak; he’s as strong-willed as anyone and tenacious to boot.
