Featured Sign of the Zodiac - Sagittarius
The Sign of Sagittarius (you may also relate to this if you have the Moon in Sagittarius or Sagittarius Rising)
If you were born between November 23 and December 21, you are a Sagittarius Sun sign. The symbol of Sagittarius is the Archer, depicted as a wild centaur, half man, half horse. Being fenced in, whether in the wrong relationship, the wrong job or wrong identity is a curse for this freedom-loving sign and one they constantly face. The lesson we can learn from Sagittarius is that there is nothing more valuable than freedom and although its price is high, it is worth every penny. Sagittarius is here to learn, grow and teach. If this Sun sign is stuck, he feels his life is a waste. Restriction is like having a door slammed in his face. This Sun sign needs to seek freedom and growth more than security. If you are a Sagittarius and your life is stable, secure and comfortable with no room for growth, it’s time to move on!Your path of soul development involves seeking and seeing the big picture, and your ability to see the inter-connectedness and oneness of life. An inner urge drives you to get an overview and this often manifests as an urge to travel or an interest in religion or a philosophy that makes sense of the whole with universal laws and principles and can explain how things fit together. While your opposite sign, Gemini, tries to understand and analyze the parts, you focus on the whole and have an affinity for studies such as holistic medicine which treats the whole person, mind, body and spirit.
Also, you are able to see society as a whole and what future directions or trends are likely. You are a natural observer of life; you like to scrutinize and analyze the future. Sagittarians have an uncanny intuitive ability and this makes them good at astrology and prediction. They seem to have a visionary or prophetic gift partly due to their future-oriented nature.
There is a downside to all this “future viewing”, however, and this is where some of your karmic tests come in. You can be so obsessed with your vision and view of the whole, together with your intuitive sense of future possibilities that you can miss what is right in front of your nose. This can cause you to be insensitive to other people and you may find it difficult to relate to others because you expect them to think and believe as you do. Also, unless you have the Earth element strong in your horoscope, you may find it hard to do the actual work involved in making your vision and dreams come true. A big challenge for you is to practice what you preach, to make your vision work, and to temper your desire for truth at all times with compassion for others. Also, you may rely too much on luck and take the line of least resistance which can bring inattention to details. You do not do well with repetitive, boring tasks and reach burnout quickly. Once you have mastered something you are ready to move on to new adventures.
Instead of moving on every time you are faced with a boring task, it is more productive to factor into your life other Sagittarian adventures such as archery, horse-riding, astrology, religion or athletics. By making sure you have Sagittarian-style outlets in your life, you will feel more able to keep a sense of perspective and humor when little things go awry.
Other tests that come your way are tests of faith. Because you instinctively know there is something larger than yourself, you do have innate faith more than most. Even so, this is put to the test, urging you to always be attuned to something bigger than purely personal concerns. It’s more important for Sagittarius than most to align yourself with a larger framework and the Divine Creator behind it all, in order to make sense of your life. If you refuse to do this then this will be a constant test for you until finally you make that all important surrender to something bigger than yourself.
Your drive for expanding your understanding of life is often accompanied by a need for personal freedom and there may be a terrific fear of being trapped, limited or confined in any way. You are like a spirited horse with something free and untamable about you. You are at your happiest with adventure and future possibilities. Because much of everyday life is about discipline and boundaries – from budgeting, to routines, to diet, this goes against the grain for you. You had better learn self-discipline fast because having discipline imposed on you by other people is the worst thing for free-spirited you. This whole area of discipline and self-control is another karmic lesson for you. Your secret of success on your journey towards greater meaning is to realize that until you control yourself, others will control you. When you learn this important lesson and keep your vision intact, you will become the Sagittarius Superstar you were born to be!
